The Charlotte Bobcats introduced their new head coach Wednesday – a veteran NBA assistant named Steve Clifford.

Steve Clifford is taking over a tough job.

The Bobcats were the second-worst team in the league last year. The year before, they had worst record in NBA history. And since the team entered the league in 2004, it hasn't kept a single head coach for more than three seasons.

Thick Nylon Rope Falls, Injures 10 Fans At Charlotte Motor Speedway

Ten fans were injured last night at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Three were taken to hospitals and later released. They were hurt after a thick nylon rope that was part of an overhead camera system fell over the grandstands.

Roughly 100,000 fans will pour into the Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday evening for the Coca-Cola 600.

There will also be thousands of people there who aren’t watching the race, driving a car or working in the garages. They’re the volunteers and employees who take care of everything behind the scenes.

'Home Of NASCAR' Could Lose A Race

Speed week at the Charlotte Motor Speedway concludes Sunday with the Coca-Cola 600. The track will have another Sprint Cup race in October. But it could be the last fall race – Speedway Motorsports CEO Bruton Smith said this week there’s a strong chance he’ll move that one to another track he owns in Las Vegas.

That would be another blow for NASCAR’s Southern fan base. But the circumstances surrounding this possible move are different from when races left other Southern cities.

Charlotte Plans To Bring 'Back The Buzz'

It’s official: the Charlotte Bobcats are changing their name to the Charlotte Hornets. Team owner Michael Jordan announced the change Tuesday night.

“Back the buzz.” That was the tagline Tuesday night at Time Warner Cable Arena, glowing on screens and printed on T-shirts in the old-school Hornets’ teal and purple colors.

Team owner Michael Jordan said the Bobcats have asked the NBA if Charlotte’s basketball team can once again be the Hornets.
