Mecklenburg County Chairman Harold Cogdell is asking the non-profit C.W. Williams Community Health Center to release his work contract with them. This comes after the Charlotte Observer reported that Cogdell pushed to boost county funding to the health center by $110,000 this year. Two months after that was approved, he began doing work for the group.

Cogdell: 'Oust,' 'Maneuver' Wrong Descriptions Of Leadership Change

Jennifer Roberts is out and Harold Cogdell is in as chairman of the Mecklenburg County Commission. In an interview with WFAE's Mark Rumsey, Cogdell takes issue with words like "oust" and "maneuver" that were used to describe the politics of what occurred.

"I have to take exception with "maneuver" and 'oust,' he said. I don't think that's the accurate description of what occurred."

Cogdell Backed Adding $110,000 In Funding To Nonprofit That Later Hired Him

New Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners Chairman Harold Cogdell on Wednesday denied that a nonprofit health provider hired him because he lobbied commissioners to substantially increase its county funding.
County Manager Harry Jones recommended in June that commissioners give $280,000 to C.W. Williams Community Health Center, which offers medical care for the poor.
But board members voted to increase the amount to $390,000 after Cogdell suggested they allocate more money to the center's homeless health care initiative.
