American Documented Syria's War From Inside

Robert Siegel talks with Obaida Hitto, a 25-year-old Syrian American from Texas who spent five months assisting the Free Syrian Army in Deir al-Zour on the Euphrates River, near the border of Iraq. He documented the violence in the eastern Syrian city through videos he posted on the Internet, until he was injured in a mortar attack by Bashar Assad's forces at the end of September. He is now recovering in Istanbul.

And I'm Audie Cornish. In a cemetery in Beirut, Lebanon, new graves are appearing more frequently than usual. This isn't just any cemetery. It's where the martyrs of Hezbollah are buried. The Shiite militant group is backed by the governments of Iran and Syria. While it's not clear where these latest martyrs were killed, members of Syria's opposition accuse the group of sending fighters into their country to help its embattled government.

And I'm Robert Siegel. They're calling it Mission 26. After 25 trips in orbit, Space Shuttle Endeavour is making its final journey, this one through the streets of Los Angeles. For the next two days, the shuttle will be towed from Los Angeles International Airport to the California Science Center in downtown L.A. where it will become a museum piece. NPR's Carrie Kahn caught up with Endeavour along its route today.

Martian Meteorite For Sale Is A 'Little Time Capsule'

And now to one more rare thing that came from space: a meteorite. Some of the most unusual and prized meteorites fell to Earth from Mars. In a new journal article, scientists describe the latest one that was discovered, and this weekend, you can buy a piece of it. NPR's Christopher Joyce has this story of a journey from Mars to a Manhattan auction house.
