AG: Facebook Data Breaches Affected More Than 2.5 Million NC Residents

Zuri Berry/ WFAE

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein says his office has determined that more than 2.5 million state residents were affected by Facebook’s privacy breaches.

Stein’s office says 2,521,064 North Carolinians’ data was shared with Cambridge Analytica, the company at the center of the data breach scandal, and other parties. That figure was provided to the attorney general’s office by Facebook as part of an ongoing investigation.

“People aren’t expecting to trade their privacy for a Facebook page,” Stein said in a statement.

Stein added that his office will continue to investigate Facebook’s policies.
