Brittany White is Charlotte’s first homicide of 2018. Freedom Division patrol officers responded to a shots fired call for service on Carlyle Drive.  Upon arrival, officers found Ms. White inside a residence with an apparent gunshot wound, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said Jonathan Bennett killed Ms.  White earlier Thursday, taking their infant daughter after the murder. The baby was found safe.

During a police briefing Mr. Bennett opened fire on officers hitting one office in the leg. Police returned fire and Mr. Bennett was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital.
