Charlotte city council members will hold a special meeting Monday afternoon to “consider taking action” regarding hosting the 2020 Republican National Convention.
Before the meeting, residents are invited to share their thoughts on hosting the convention.
Mayor Vi Lyles and at least five council members say they want the RNC to come to Charlotte. But the other six council members are either opposed or undecided.
The Republican National Committee is expected to announce which city has been chosen as the host site next week. Only Charlotte and Las Vegas are bidding for the event.
Monday’s city council meeting will be at 2 p.m.
