The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says an 81-year-old woman was shot in the leg last night in the city's Belmont neighborhood.
Police say the woman's apartment unit was targeted with multiple gunshots, but the victim was not the actual target. CMPD responded to the shooting at 11:54 p.m. near the 1200 block of Harrill Street.
Police say the victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
