A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer shot at a driver last night inside a parking deck at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
The department says officers went to a valet deck on Wilkinson Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. to investigate a suspicious vehicle. When Officer Xeng Lor got out of his car and walked toward the vehicle, the driver — who has been identified as 20-year-old Xavier Calliste — drove toward the officer. CMPD says Lor thought the car could run him over and fired his gun at Calliste. Lor was not injured and the Calliste fled the scene.
CMPD says a short time later, Calliste showed up at Atrium Health with gunshot wounds that are not life-threatening. The department says when Calliste is released, he will be charged with first degree trespass and assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer.
Following department protocol, Lor has been placed on paid administrative leave while the officer-involved shooting is investigated.
