Mecklenburg County commissioners Wednesday formally approved a Nov. 7 referendum on $922 million in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools bonds and set a public hearing for Sept. 5.
The bond referendum is the largest in county history. It would pay for 10 new schools, seven replacement schools, and 12 renovations and additions.
They include two new high schools to relieve crowding - one in south Mecklenburg and another in southwest Charlotte.
