The group of about 90 doctors that sued Atrium Health to leave and form an independent practice have dropped the suit. The physicians are part of Mecklenburg Medical Group, and announced in April they were leaving Atrium and suing the health system to get out of their contracts.
The agreements restricted where the doctors could practice in Charlotte. The same day the lawsuit was filed Atrium said it would not enforce the non-compete clauses. The doctors official exit date is September 1. They are forming a new practice called Tryon Medical Partners. Atrium and Tryon Medical Partners said in a joint statement patients will get letters with details so they can make decisions about their medical care going forward.
