Hopewell High School Principal John Dino Gisiano has been suspended with pay, and an interim principal will be named soon as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials conduct an inquiry involving Gisiano.
CMS officials would not say why the Beatties Ford Road school’s principal is being investigated. They released a statement from Hopewell's Learning Community Superintendent to parents that only said that the matter does not involve any students and that the suspension was effective July 23. CMS officials said they could not share further details at this time.
The suspension comes less than a month before the new school year begins. The statement released said Gisiano’s suspension will not disrupt the school’s opening, and that the interim principal will be appointed next week.
Gisiano has worked for the school district since 2005 and was appointed Hopewell's principal in 2013. An email to him was returned with an automatic reply that said, “I am currently out of the office and have limited access to email.”
