The former UNC Charlotte quarterback and brother of Carolina Panthers player Greg Olsen had been charged with three counts of second degree rape and one count of sexual offense of his then-girlfriend in February 2017.

WFAE’s Sarah Delia covered the Olsen trial. She described the courtroom when the jury announced its verdict.

“It was a pretty tense room,” Delia said. “Olsen’s accuser had a very emotional reaction, obviously, when she heard that and was very quickly escorted outside of the courthouse.”

“Olsen and his family, including Greg Olsen, was in the court room,” she said. “They had a very audible reaction. They actually had to be reminded to keep order because the court was still in session.”

Delia said the court is awaiting responses from Olsen’s defense lawyers, George and Bree Laughrun, and the prosecutors, assistant district attorneys Kristen Northrup and Jane Honeycutt.
