Man Charged With Sexual Assault Has 6 Sex Crime Victims In Last Week, Police Say

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department

CMPD says Charlotte man sexually assaulted a woman Friday night as she was walking near UNC Charlotte’s campus. Police say the assault occurred shortly before David Keith Kenney, 29, was arrested Friday on sexual battery charges related to incidents at Central Piedmont Community College last Wednesday night. Police say he groped two women.

CMPD says Kenney groped three more women Friday evening, in addition to the sexual assault. Police responded to those four calls between roughly 7:15 and 11 p.m.

According to CMPD, seven warrants were obtained Monday: One count of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of first degree kidnapping and four counts of sexual offense. In all, police say there were six victims.

CMPD says Kenney was arrested Friday after a short pursuit on foot. He’s been in the Mecklenburg County Jail ever since.
