All 170 state House and state Senate seats were on the Midterm ballot, most contested. Democrats worked hard this election to shift the balance of power away from the right and break the Republican supermajority.

Here are the results from races in and around Mecklenburg County.

North Carolina House of Representatives

DISTRICT 88: Southwest Charlotte

  • Democrat Mary Belk: 75.6 percent
  • Republican Ty Turner: 23 percent

DISTRICT 92: South Charlotte toward Pineville

  • Democrat Chaz Beasley: 72 percent
  • Republican Debbie Ware: 27.3 percent

DISTRICT 98: Huntersville and Cornelius

  • Democrat Christy Clark: 50.6 percent
  • Republican John R. Bradford III: 49 percent

DISTRICT 99: Northeast Charlotte

  • Democrat Nasif Majeed: 83 percent
  • Republican Nancy Campbell: 17 percent

DISTRICT 100: Southeast Charlotte

  • Democrat John Autry: 70.8 percent
  • Republican Nancy Campbell: 29 percent

DISTRICT 101: Northwest Charlotte toward Mount Holly

  • Democrat Carolyn Logan: 79.2 percent
  • Republican Steve Mauney: 20.7 percent

DISTRICT 102: Central Charlotte

  • Democrat Becky Carney: 83 percent
  • Republican Tyler Norris: 17 percent

DISTRICT 103: South to west Mecklenburg toward Mint Hill

  • Democrat Rachel Hunt: 50.1 percent
  • Republican Bill Brawley: 49.9 percent

DISTRICT 104: South Charlotte

  • Democrat Brandon Lofton: 51.7 percent
  • Republican Andy Dulin: 48.3 percent

DISTRICT 105: Southernmost part of Mecklenburg County

  • Democrat Wesley Harris: 52 percent
  • Republican Scott Stone: 47.8 percent

DISTRICT 106: Northeast Mecklenburg

  • Democrat Carla Cunningham: 80.3 percent
  • Republican Geovani Sherow: 19.7 percent

DISTRICT 37: Central into southwest Charlotte

  • Democrat Jeff Jackson: 78 percent
  • Republican Nora Trotman: 19.7 percent
  • Constitution Stuart Andrew Collins: 1.9 percent

DISTRICT 38: North Charlotte

  • Democrat Mujtaba Mohammed: 81.9 percent
  • Republican Richard Rivette: 18.1 percent

DISTRICT 39: East Mecklenburg toward Mint Hill and south into Pineville.

  • Democrat Chad Stachowicz: 52.9 percent
  • Republican Dan Bishop: 47 percent

DISTRICT 40: East Charlotte

  • Democrat Joyce Waddell: 75.5 percent
  • Republican Bobbie Shields: 24.5 percent

DISTRICT 41: West Mecklenburg and some southern parts of the county toward Pineville

  • Democrat Natasha Marcus: 56.9 percent
  • Republican Jeff Tarte: 43.1 percent
