All 170 state House and state Senate seats were on the Midterm ballot, most contested. Democrats worked hard this election to shift the balance of power away from the right and break the Republican supermajority.

Here are the results from races in and around Mecklenburg County.

North Carolina House of Representatives

DISTRICT 88: Southwest Charlotte

  • Democrat Mary Belk: 75.6 percent
  • Republican Ty Turner: 23 percent

DISTRICT 92: South Charlotte toward Pineville

  • Democrat Chaz Beasley: 72 percent
  • Republican Debbie Ware: 27.3 percent

DISTRICT 98: Huntersville and Cornelius

  • Democrat Christy Clark: 50.6 percent
  • Republican John R. Bradford III: 49 percent

DISTRICT 99: Northeast Charlotte

  • Democrat Nasif Majeed: 83 percent
  • Republican Nancy Campbell: 17 percent

DISTRICT 100: Southeast Charlotte

  • Democrat John Autry: 70.8 percent
