Emergency crews rescued boaters in distress on Lake Norman Wednesday night after several sailboats capsized.
According to the Huntersville Fire Department, the boaters were part of a Lake Norman sailing school. About five or six sailboats overturned near Blythe Landing as severe weather swept through the area. The Cornelius fire and police departments also responded to the scene.
According to WSOC-TV, 26 people were rescued. Officials said everyone was accounted for and there were no injuries, the television station said.
