Officials Confirm Body Found Is Missing Lumberton Girl

Hania Aguilar
FBI

The state medical examiner's office confirmed that the body found yesterday afternoon in Robeson County is 13-year-old Hania Aguilar of Lumberton, who was abducted in front of her home earlier this month.

Lumberton Police Chief Michael McNeill gave an emotional update on the search for Aguilar in a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

“This is the outcome that we all feared that was going to happen. We did not want to hear this, we wanted to bring Hania back home and back home alive to our community. Our work is not over, we will not stop, we will not stop until we find the person or persons responsible and we bring them to justice.”

The Lumberton Police Department and FBI continue to investigate Aguilar's abduction and death.

FBI agents and Lumberton Police Department detectives found Aguilar's body in an area off Wire Grass Road in Robeson County Tuesday afternoon.

Aguilar was abducted outside of her home off Elizabethtown Road in Lumberton Nov. 5.
