Three Members Of North Carolina Gang Sentenced

Three people prosecutors say are members of the United Blood Nation gang in North Carolina were sentenced yesterday in Charlotte.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 43-year-old Cynthia Gilmore, of Raleigh, received a sentence of 19 years in prison. She was convicted of racketeering conspiracy in May. Prosecutors say she played a major role in trafficking narcotics and robbing other drug dealers. The office also says she helped the top Bloods’ leader Pedro Gutierrez run the gang from a New York prison by acting as his messenger to the gang’s North Carolina members.

Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski said Gilmore was a trusted leader of the Nine Trey Gangsters, who rose through the ranks of the powerful North Carolina gang. Gilmore assisted Gutierrez in maintaining control over the gang and made sure that other members knew, understood and executed his orders.

The judge also sentenced Robert McClinton, of Charlotte, to around three and a half years in prison and Renaldo Camp, of Shelby, to around six years.  Both men pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
