Election Change On SC Ballot

Unbeknownst to many South Carolina voters, they're being asked to change the state's constitution next week, and the outcome will affect future elections. 

In South Carolina, the governor and lieutenant governor are elected separately. About half of states do it that way – including North Carolina.  Next week, South Carolina voters will have a chance to change that and put their top two executives on the same ticket.  

But the constitutional amendment on South Carolina's ballot Tuesday has garnered little attention.

McCrory Set To Make Transition Announcements

Pat McCrory says he’s moving quickly in preparations to take over the governor’s office.  He plans to announce his transition team tomorrow. 

North Carolina will soon have a Republican governor and Republican majorities in the state house and senate. 

At a press conference Wednesday, McCrory said he’ll reach out to leaders of both parties.

McCrory Feels At Home In Charlotte Rotary Address

Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory had his time before the Charlotte Rotary Club on Tuesday. Democrat Walter Dalton got a polite, but cool reception from the group last month. For McCrory, the welcome was filled with anecdotes and inside jokes.

It was just “Mayor Pat” to this overflowing room of local business leaders. Clearly on his home court, McCrory played into that. Former councilman Edwin Peacock surprised McCrory with a clip from an old home movie showing the former mayor as a fresh-faced 21 year old refereeing a high school basketball game in Charlotte.
