(1/11/05) With constant news coverage of the tsunami disaster, more and more peopleare getting exposed to a word they don't normally use. There's been asteady flow of Internet traffic as linguists and translators discuss thepronunciation of the word- "tsunami." Even among newscasters there doesn'tseem to be a consensus. WFAE's Simone Orendain talked with UNC linguist professor, Jennifer Smith to get some clarification. Smith specializes in the sounds in languages.

(1-05-05) NASCAR has announced that Charlotte is one of four cities it's selected as finalists to become home to its Hall of Fame. Charlotte will be competing with Atlanta, Daytona Beach and Kansas City to land the attraction.
