New Details On NC House Budget

North Carolina House Republicans presented Monday afternoon their proposed budget for the next two years. In total, the budget spends $20.6 billion.

“In the first year we spend around $12 million less than the Senate and around $188 million less than the governor,” said Rep. Nelson Dollar, the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

NC Tax Proposals Could Hurt Nonprofits

  Proposals to overhaul North Carolina's tax code could discourage people from giving to charities, turn nonprofits into tax collectors, and make it more difficult for some organizations to provide services. Those are a few concerns the N.C. Center for Nonprofits raised Monday.

Broadway Honors 'The Lost Colony' With Tony

One of the longest-running outdoor dramas in the country, The Lost Colony, has won a Tony Honor for excellence in theatre. It's a first for North Carolina. This summer, the show enters its 76th season in Manteo, which is part of the Outer Banks.

Phew! Charlotte Council To Adopt Capital Plan, Budget

Charlotte City Council is poised to approve a 3.17 cent property tax rate increase Monday night.

Charlotte's $2 billion budget for the coming year will likely be adopted Monday night, including an increase in the property tax rate of about three cents.
