Put down the sriracha. There’s a new condiment in town. And just like the popular spicy “rooster sauce” everyone went crazy over a few years ago, this one adds depth, piquancy and spice to anything you put it on.

It’s called harissa, and I’m a little in love with it.

A foray into the age-old question of who makes a better hot dog, New York or Chicago?

My boyfriend Ryan and I have a little on going debate about which hot dog is the best.  A New York Nathan’s Famous Frank or the Chicago Style hot dog?  By me being a savvy New Yorker, quite naturally I said the New York Nathan’s, but he is a boisterous young man from the “Windy City” so he says the Chicago Dog.  So, we decided to settle the score by comparing and contrasting what makes each of our beloved regional delectation the best.

Update: Remember when Leftover Love was just an idea?  Well Charlotte White’s plan to reduce the use of Styrofoam containers has caught on in Plaza-Midwood.  Beginning on Earth Day, (Sunday, April 22) Kickstand Burgers-n-Bar, Loco Lime, and Hawthorne’s NY Pizza & Bar will give you 5% off your bill if you bring your own container for leftovers.  It’s not surprising to see this take shape in one of Charlotte’s more environmentally-conscious neighborhoods, so maybe this is the beginning of something bigger.

There’s an old joke about Jewish holidays, and what they signify. It goes like this: “They tried to kill us; they couldn’t; let’s eat.”

This is an admittedly simplistic statement, but it fittingly describes Passover, the solemn yet joyous holiday that takes place each spring.

Strawberry pie. Strawberry shortcake. Strawberry jam. Strawberry margarita. Strawberry ice cream. Strawberry cheesecake. Strawberry smoothie.
