At WFAE, our goal is to give you more programming
and less on-air fundraising whenever we can.
Our Spring Pledge Drive is in March and we’re
asking you to help take days of the drive by pledging early.
Our goal is to raise $500,000 over ten days.
So for every $50,000 we receive we will Buy Back a day of the drive!
So how are we doing in the quest for a shorter spring drive?

How does this Buy Back thing work, anyway?
Our Spring Pledge Drive is scheduled for Monday, March 5th through Saturday, March 10th and Monday, March 12th through Thursday, March 15th. However… when we receive $50,000 in pledges we will buy back a day of the drive. We will begin with the first day (Monday, March 5th) which means you will hear more uninterrupted programming. So, for every $50,000 received beforehand we will eliminate a day of the drive.
Why Buy Back Days?
At WFAE, our goal is to give you more programming and less on-air fundraising whenever we can. Buying Back days off the spring pledge drive is one way to make that happen. We have also tried the one day drive in June which was successful. The fall and spring pledge drive are our biggest fundraisers of the year, providing a large part of our operating revenue. Unfortunately, we can not do that in just one day. But we can buy back days.
How long was the drive originally scheduled to be?
Ten days. (You can make it shorter!)
Do I get a special “thank you” for giving early to Buy Back days?
Glad you asked. We are trying to offer fewer premiums during the drives so that the money you pledge goes directly into programming. If you have a request and we can honor it we will.
What is your goal for the drive?
Our financial goal for the drive is $500,000. This fits into our overall membership goal of $1,984,000 for the fiscal year (July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012). Fifty-two percent of WFAE’s total revenue comes from listener contributions – we couldn’t do it without you!
