Mark Rumsey

MULTIMEDIA

Two women visited Charlotte on Thursday as part of the "Jerusalem Women Speak" tour, sponsored by the Washington D.C.-based organization Partners for Peace.

Jala Basil Andoni is a retired school teacher and a Palestinian Christian; Ruth El-Raz is a Jewish artist, political activist and an Israeli citzen.  Organizers said a third woman who was scheduled to participate in the tour, a Palestinian Muslim, was denied a visa by the U.S. government.

WFAE's Mark Rumsey spoke with Jala Andoni and Ruth El-Raz.

The "Women of Jerusalem Speak: Three Women, Three Faiths, One Vision" will present a program and dialogue tonight, Friday Oct. 16, at 6:30 at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte NC. 28211-4000. Refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m.

It is unfortunate that this presentation was so one-sided. Issues and problems related to the Palestinian side were not discussed at all. The sponsors (Partners for Peace) do not seem interested in partners.
