Event Description

Jeff Little is a unique pianist in that his instrument doesn’t usually play a prominent part in Appalachian music. A native of Boone, Jeff began playing piano at age 5 where he absorbed traditional, bluegrass, rockabilly and blues from musicians that gathered in his family’s music store. This is where a lifelong friendship with Doc Watson began & thusly one of his greatest influences. Wayne Henderson is a world renowned guitarist, luthier and preservationist. Every third weekend in June, Wayne puts on one of the best festivals in the mountains, The Wayne Henderson Festival. All monies raised go to his jam program for young Appalachian musicians. Wayne, like Jeff was a close friend of Doc Watson’s and both spent many an hour in Wayne’s guitar shop telling stories and pickin tunes until Doc’s death. We are sure to hear a few tunes and stories from their long friendships with Doc – this will be a no miss collaboration! Come join the Charlotte Folk Society for their October Gathering! Strudelteig foodtruck on site at 530PM serving Bavarian specialties and desserts. Pre-concert Bluegrass and Old Time jams start at 6PM. Concert doors open at 7PM. Snacks and desserts following the show along with more jams! Free Parking on Site. Concert is free. Donations are suggested.
