CMPD to open up to reality TV

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police have been tight-lipped on some high-profile investigations, but now the homicide unit is opening itself up to reality TV. Producers from A&E's "The First 48" will shadow CMPD homicide detectives for a year starting this spring. In a statement, the department says it hopes having CMPD featured in a positive manner will boost the community's confidence in the exceptional work its detectives do. Under the agreement, detectives are able to veto any material they believe may jeopardize a case.
