Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man accused of carjacking a woman’s car and then attempting to sexually assault her early Friday morning.
CMPD says the woman was using an ATM off Woodlawn Road a little after 2 a.m. Friday when the stranger approached her. The woman told the police that the man forced his way into her car with a weapon, drove her to another location and then attempted to sexually assault her.
Police say the man then drove away in the woman’s vehicle, which was found Saturday.
CMPD has gathered surveillance video images that they say shows the man. Police describe the suspect as a five-foot-ten-inch black man who was last seen wearing jeans and a gray and white jacket. CMPD says he was also wearing black and white shoes, a black hat and a gray mask covering his nose and mouth.
Police are asking people to look at the images and help them identify the man. People can call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
