A person was found shot in a vehicle in northeast Charlotte early Thursday morning. CMPD says officers responding to a call of assault with a deadly weapon found the man on North Tryon Street near Sugar Creek Road around 1:30am.
He was pronounced dead on the scene. The person’s name has not been released. The department says officers found a second man who had been shot nearby. That person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures. Police detained a person of interest at the scene and are not looking for any additional suspects at this time, according to the department.
There have been 48 homicides in Charlotte this year. There were 57 in all of last year.
