One firefighter was injured while battling a large fire Thursday at a business in Kannapolis. WSOC-TV reports the firefighter was working toward the back of the building when the ceiling partially collapsed on him. The firefighter's identity has not yet been released and his condition remains unknown.

According to the TV station, the four-alarm fire broke out around 9 a.m. Thursday morning, and shut down part of South Main Street. Video footage of the blaze shows a building, which reportedly housed a former appliance store, almost completely burned to the ground, with large plumes of smoke rising into the air.

The store has been declared a total loss, and authorities are continuing to evaluate damage sustained to surrounding businesses.

It is unclear what started the fire.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
