CMPD arrested a man who they said committed two sexual assaults in South End over the weekend.

A man arrested Monday for a sexual assault in South End over the weekend has been charged in a second sexual assault case in the same area one day earlier, CMPD said Wednesday.

Rogelio Marin Ramirez, 29, has been charged with second degree rape, sexual battery and financial card theft, among other charges.

Police said Ramirez sexually assaulted a 42-year-old woman at 12:40 a.m. Sunday and took items from her residence near the 200 block of East Bland Street. Among the items taken were credit cards.

Ramirez was arrested Monday based on his physical description and identifying features of his white BMW. When reviewing evidence, CMPD realized he was a suspect in at least one other sexual assault case -- one day earlier.

Police said that Ramirez also assaulted a 25-year-old woman Saturday at 3:30 a.m. near the 1800 block of South Boulevard. Though the woman got away, she left behind her purse. Her credit cards were later used to purchase gas.

CMPD's Sexual Assault Unit continues to investigate these cases and others where Ramirez might be involved. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or charlottecrimestoppers.com.
