Bojangles opened its first location in 1977. It now has about 750 locations nationwide.

Bojangles' chicken and biscuits may soon be making their debut in the Midwest. The Charlotte-based company is looking for franchise owners to open restaurants in Cincinnati, Ohio and Evansville, Indiana. The company also plans to add to its locations in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bojangles' has about 750 restaurants nationwide, most of those are located in the Carolinas. The company went public in 2015 and, around that time, said it was planning to expand, growing the number of its restaurants by 7 to 8 percent a year. In its SEC filing then, the company cited research that indicates there’s enough demand to eventually operate 3,500 locations across the country.

Bojangles' opened its first restaurant in 1977, in Charlotte at the corner of West Boulevard and S. Tryon St.

Lisa Worf traded the Midwest for Charlotte in 2006 to take a job at WFAE. She worked with public TV in Detroit and taught English in Austria before making her way to radio. Lisa graduated from University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in English.
