A man wanted in his wife’s murder in Catawba County is now in custody, county officials confirm. Joseph Barker is charged with murder in the death of 43-year-old Crystal Johnson Barker.
The deadly shooting happened Tuesday at the couple's home in Vale, North Carolina. When officials responded, Joseph barricaded himself in the house before fleeing the scene.
Catawba County Special Tactics and Response Team found Crystal Barker dead inside the home.
Thursday, officials located Joseph in Transylvania County where he was taken into custody. The motive for the killing has not been released.
