The Charlotte Fire Department responded to a multi-vehicle accident involving a CATS bus near uptown Wednesday morning.
The fire department says 18 passengers were transported to the hospital after a CATS bus made contact with a utility vehicle at the 600 block of Beatties Ford Road near Cemetery Street. Neither passenger in the overturned vehicle was injured.
The bus, identified as CATS bus 1043, has been towed from the scene. CATS representative Krystel Green says route 7 will continue to operate Wednesday with delays.
Significant traffic delays are expected in the area as crews work to clean up the accident.
