Police in Charlotte are investigating two separate homicides this weekend.
In the first case, a 64-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 8800 block of Mont Carmel Lane off East Arrowood Road. When police got to the scene about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, they found Hector Cruz with a stab wound. Cruz was rushed to a hospital by paramedics but died.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cruz knew the person who stabbed him and describe the situation as a domestic incident.
About 40 minutes after the stabbing was reported, someone called 911 about a shooting near the 2200 block of Irma Street in northwest Charlotte. When police arrived at the scene, which is near Lasalle Street between Interstate 77 and Beatties Ford Road, they found 37-year-old Mario Racheim Reynolds shot.
Reynolds was rushed to a hospital but died.
There have been 27 homicides in Charlotte this year, according to CMPD.
The police department is asking anyone with information on either case to call 704-432-8477.
