Charlotte Mecklenburg Teacher of the Year Kimberly Tuttle. Her teaching philosophy is to tailor her teaching to each student, and we learn more.
Meet Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Teacher of the Year. Kimberly Tuttle is an 11th grade English teacher at Levine Middle College High School in Matthews. She’s spent 20 years in the classroom and intends to stay there.
She takes the role seriously and thinks of her students as her own children. She told Charlotte Talks:
"If you’re my student, you’re no longer my student… you’re my child. When you walk through my doors, I’m going to make sure I give you the same amount of passion, energy, and instruction that I want for my own two daughters."
Of her teaching philosophy, she believes it’s important to teach the whole child and fit curriculum to meet the needs of each student. We’ll find out what she means by that.
We’ll also talk about confidence in public education, preparing students for college, what keeps her in the classroom, equity in education, and find out why she wants to see more vocational training in our schools.
