WFAE/Erin Keever

Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020

Growth and development have changed the city and the region greatly. And we take a closer look at the trends shaping our city and our future.

Charlotte has undergone monumental change in the last 25 or 30 years. New skyscrapers have altered – make that – created our skyline. Light rail is a reality. We have an uptown ballpark and we’re flush with professional teams.

We’ve experienced a real estate boom, and business has moved beyond banking into tech and other areas. We endured a deep recession and emerged as one of the fastest growing cities in the country and that has caused exponential growing pains and opportunities.

If the past is prologue, what’s next? We examine the trends shaping Charlotte and peer into our crystal ball at the future.
