Charlotte Talks Friday News Roundup: Amazon Proposal Delivered; Early Voting in Mecklenburg; More

On the news roundup, Mike Collins and area reporters cover the week's top stories: Charlotte’s bid to be Amazon’s second headquarters has been submitted.  Early voting starts this week. The county commission reached a deal for CMPD to patrol rural areas around Charlotte.  

Charlotte is Prime Day made big headlines this week as cities around the country- including the Queen City- submit their proposals to Amazon in an effort to be the top pick for Amazon’s second headquarters. We’ll talk about our bid, and compare our viability with other cities, including Raleigh.

Early voting starts this week- will we have low turnout again as predicted? We’ll discuss the latest on the election.

Mecklenburg County has reached a deal for CMPD to patrol rural areas around Charlotte, after months of negotiation and questions of whether CMPD was doing a good job in those outlying areas. We’ll go through the details of the deal for each surrounding area.

And the North Carolina Senate overrode Governor Cooper’s veto of a bill that would cancel primary elections for local and statewide court seats for next year.
