Friday, September 13, 2019

Dan Bishop is headed to Congress after a dramatic, seemingly never-ending race. City council primaries set the stage for November’s general election. Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden makes headlines again speaking out against his critics (including Vice President Pence), and in a morning surprise vote, the legislature overrides the governor’s budget veto.

We’ve finally learned which Dan will be the new 9th District Congressional  Representative. Republican Dan Bishop won the 9th District race this week by 2 points over Democrat Dan McCready after a dramatic, seemingly never-ending race that received national attention. We’ll talk about how it all played out.

Also on Election Day earlier this week, some local primary results were as expected, with Mayor Vi Lyles moving forward to the general election along with several at-large city council incumbents but Lawana Mayfield will not be moving ahead. We’ll talk about the results and what the field will look like for the city’s November general election.
