Charlotte Talks Local News Roundup: Social Distancing Efforts Seeing Success In Mecklenburg County

Coronavirus cases continue to mount in North Carolina, with Mecklenburg County home to about a quarter of them. Gates to county parks and greenways are closed to limit drivers and to enforce social distancing, which appears to be working in the county. Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles announces a new task force to help small business recover from the pandemic. We tell you about that and more on our local news roundup.

Mecklenburg County and the rest of North Carolina are still under a stay-at-home order as cases of the coronavirus continue to increase. Mecklenburg County has about a quarter of the state’s cases.

Good Friday is this week, leaving churches planning on how they’ll worship on Easter Sunday.

Mecklenburg County is closing entrances to county parks and greenways to limit drivers into the parks in an effort to enforce social distancing, but parks will remain open.

Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles and City Countil announced the creation of a new community recovery task force that focuses on small business, housing and the airport during the recovery phase after the pandemic passes.
