CMPD Investigates Fatal Shooting During Robbery

Updated 12:38 p.m.
A 32-year-old Charlotte man was shot to death early Wednesday during an attempted robbery at a business on Albemarle Road.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says the shooting happened around midnight after two men entered Queen City Skillsville, a sweepstakes parlor on Albemarle Road. Police said one of the men pointed a handgun at an employee in an attempt to rob the business. An armed security guard then fired a single shot, hitting the man with the gun.

The two men fled on foot. Julian Anthony Harris, 32, was found dead in a wooded area behind the business. The other unidentified man hasn't been found.

The security guard was taken to police headquarters and questioned, but later released. CMPD says he's been cooperating in the investigation.
