CMPD Investigating Reports Of Man Exposing Himself To Girls At Bus Stops

CMPD HQ
WFAE

Police are increasing patrols around school bus stops across Charlotte after they say there have been several reports of a man exposing himself to girls. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Monday there have been eight reports since February of a man exposing himself to girls between the ages of 8 and 18.

All of the alleged incidents occurred at school bus stops except one that happened at a CATS bus stop, according to the department. None of the girls have reported being physically harmed. Sergeant Catina Odom is with CMPD’s Crimes Against Children unit. She said the department believes the suspect is the same person in a majority of the cases.

“While we don’t know if it’s the same person in all eight of these cases, we believe that at least six of these cases have similar suspect descriptions, vehicle descriptions, and we think there may possibly be a connection,” Odom said during a news conference Monday.

In all but two incidents, CMPD said the suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 30 driving an older model 4-door white sedan.

Marshall came to WFAE after graduating from Appalachian State University, where he worked at the campus radio station and earned a degree in communication. Outside of radio, he loves listening to music and going to see bands - preferably in small, dingy clubs.
