CMPD: Triple Shooting Near Uptown Charlotte Leaves Two Teens Dead

CMPD HQ
WFAE

A triple shooting just west of uptown Charlotte Wednesday night left two teenagers dead and a third person injured.

CMPD said officers responding to a call of assault with a deadly weapon around 9 p.m. found a man in a parking lot on West Morehead Street at Grandin Road. Two other men also with gunshot wounds were found in a vehicle about two blocks away on Grandin Road.

The three victims were taken to the hospital, where two were pronounced dead.  Police have identified the two as Ibn Marshall, 17, and Anu’bius Smith, 18.  Neither the identity nor the condition or the third victim has been released.

CMPD believes all three were shot while in the vehicle, and that one of the victims ran to the parking lot where he was found.

The department said two firearms and some marijuana were seized at the crime scene.

No arrests have been reported.

Marshall came to WFAE after graduating from Appalachian State University, where he worked at the campus radio station and earned a degree in communication. Outside of radio, he loves listening to music and going to see bands - preferably in small, dingy clubs.
