Gaston College Names New President

Gaston College has named John Hauser as its new president, starting June 1. He’s currently president of Carteret Community College and has more than 30 years of experience in North Carolina’s community college system, including more than 20 at Wilkes Community College.

Hauser will be the college's seventh president in its 55-year history. According to the college, he earned his first degree -- an associate's degree in drafting and design technology -- from Surry Community College, then went on to get bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees.

Gaston College has about 8,000 students from Gaston and Lincoln counties and averages 17,000 a year in its workforce development programs.
