Each time the television networks call another state for Obama, big cheers go up here in the student union building at Johnson C. Smith University. This is 20-year old Jaikia Fair's first time voting in a presidential election. It's very exciting. We're coming up in the world. Not too long ago we couldn't even use the same bathrooms and now we have a Blackman running for president. So it's great." The students here say their support of Barack Obama is not only about his race. They're excited about his promises for tax reform and the economy. But there's no denying that a win for Obama would mean something special to young African Americans like 23-year old Kyle Morris. "It means that what statistics say about African American males aren't true. They may say African American males aren't able or capable or doing a certain position, but being elected as president is a very high position. You have a lot to carry."
