Lumberton Police Make Arrest In Kidnapping, Death Of Hania Aguilar

The Lumberton Police Department has made an arrest in the kidnapping and death of 13-year-old Hania Aguilar, who was abducted in front of her home last month. 

Police arrested and charged 34-year-old Michael Ray McLellan with first-degree murder, forcible rape, child abduction, concealment of death and other charges. 

At the time of McLellan's arrest, he was being held by Lumberton police on unrelated charges. 

Aguilar was kidnapped in the driveway of her home on Nov. 5. Her body was found on Nov. 27.

McLellan appeared before a magistrate early Saturday morning. He is being held without bond at the Robeson County Detention Center. He is expected to appear in court Monday.

Michael Ray McLellan has been charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering 13-year-old Hania Aguilar.

McLellan has an extensive criminal history. He served nine years in prison, from 2007 to 2016, after being convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and burglary stemming from an incident in 2005. 

He was also convicted of felony breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle in February 2018 and was sentenced to nine months in prison. He was released in June.
