NC Board Of Elections: Don't Forget, No Photo ID Required In Primary

A postcard the Board of Elections will send out to North Carolina households.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections wants to remind you that photo ID is not required for the March 3 primary election -- and will do so with a postcard in your mailbox soon.

A Dec. 31 federal district court blocked North Carolina's voter photo ID requirement from taking effect. Although the state is appealing, the order remains in place.

The Board of Elections will be mailing postcards to 4.7 million housholds in North Carolina to remind everyone that no ID is required.

"We know these changes can be confusing for voters, and we wanted to make sure all voters have the latest information about the primary election," said Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the State Board of elections.

The postcard also notes important dates for the upcoming North Carolina primary.

The postcard also includes important dates for the upcoming primary, which will include races for president, U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative and governor.

Of note:

Feb. 7: Regular voter registration deadline (also the last day to change party affiliation for the primary).

Feb. 13-29: In-person early voting period. Voters can register and vote at the same time.

Feb. 25: Deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail.

March 3: Primary Election Day, with polls open from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
