New Arena Team Carolina Energy Wins Its Opener

Charlotte's new arena football team, the Carolina Energy, won their first-ever game over the weekend. The Energy beat the Triangle Torch 64-25 on Saturday at Bojangles Coliseum.

The team is playing a 10-game season lasting through June in the newly formed American Arena League. The eight-person teams play on a 50-yard field surrounded by padded walls.

The coach and co-owner is Ervin Bryson, a South Carolina native who was a college running back in the 1980s at North Carolina's Chowan University, North Carolina A&T and Maryland's Bowie State.  Bryson co-owns the team with Daniel Rudmann, a South Carolina building contractor and property manager.

The Energy travel to Richmond this Saturday for their second game.
