Police say a 19-year-old man was shot and killed late Saturday night near Charlotte's popular South End area.

The shooting happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of Griffith Street, which is between South Tryon Street and Interstate 77. When police got to the scene, they found Antwon Risher dead in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

As of Sunday afternoon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police hadn't provided any information about what led to the shooting.

Risher's death was the second homicide reported by CMPD last week and the 19th reported this year.

On Tuesday, 43-year-old Lamar McNeil was shot to death in Charlotte's University City area. Police say they were called just before 9 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment in the 2100 block of Wit Way off East W.T. Harris Boulevard and found McNeil shot.

He was taken to a hospital but later died.

Outside of Charlotte but in Mecklenburg County last week, a triple shooting also claimed the lives of three family members.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call 704-432-8477.
