Duke Energy reported a widespread power outage encompassing most of South End and surrounding neighborhoods on Thursday afternoon.
Nearly 7,000 Duke Energy customers were without power from about 2:30 p.m. until about 6:15 p.m., the power company reported. The outage stretched from Frazier Park to the tip of the Sedgefield neighborhood.
The power company said the outage was caused by equipment going offline.
A spokesperson for the Charlotte Area Transit System said service along the Blue Line Light Rail was not interrupted.
