September is here, and I’ve been hearing those big yellow school buses making their early morning rounds in my neighborhood.
September also means that WFAE’s Public Conversation on the state of public education in the Charlotte area is getting close. The event is Tuesday evening, Sept. 16, at UNC Charlotte Center City and I’m excited about the excellent panel of educators and education experts who have agreed to join us: Dr. Heath Morrison, Superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools; Torrieann Dooley, Teacher at David Cox Road Elementary; Tiffany Flowers, Executive Director of KIPP Charlotte; and Eric Guckian, Senior Education Advisor to N.C. Governor Pat McCrory.
WFAE reporter Tom Bullock will moderate this community forum. He and I have been brainstorming and we’d love to hear from you about the public education issues that you think are most important to address. Feel free to comment below or send your ideas to publicconversations@wfae.org
