The Beacon technology blog is offering k-12 teachers a chance to compete for six grants that they can use to buy supplies and materials for technological-related classroom instruction. The grant awards range from $500 to $1,000.

Applicants will have to submit original lesson plans and homework assignments that encourage and require students to use technology. The submissions will be judged on creativity and opportunities for hands-on experiences for students in various subject areas and means to measure how well the students are comprehending the technology concepts.

All applications must be submitted before midnight on Dec. 9. Winners will be announced on or after Jan. 8 on The Beacon and Fios.Verizon.com websites. The awards are funded by Fios’ operator, Internet Service Providers, LLC.
